Possible Eriksen replacement valued at £100 million by ex-Spurs player

Ex-Tottenham midfielder Jason Cundy believes that Leicester’s James Maddison is worth £100 million. The English playmaker had a great season for Leicester and is one of the best young players in the world.

Cundy said on his TalkSport show when asked about the attacking midfielder, as quoted by Leicestershire Live: “I think you’re going to have to pull out £100 million to get Maddison, personally.”

Spurs were linked to Maddison in the summer but a bid was never made (Daily Mirror). With Christian Eriksen looking to leave next summer Maddison would have been the perfect replacement. However, £100 Million is a wildly inflated price tag that would probably put the club off.

Tottenham have clearly lacked creativity this season, especially without Eriksen on the pitch. However, there are clearly better value for money options available to the club. Also, the signing of Giovani Lo Celso will add some much-needed creativity to the squad, although he is out till the end of October.

Maddison is fantastic and will be a big part of the national team setup in the future. However, this kind of price tag is ridiculous when players like Nabil Fekir and Pablo Sarabia go for around £20-30 million.
