Postecoglou delivers clear response when asked about Heung-min Son’s future

Ange Postecoglou has made it clear that Son Heung-min will be an important part of the project at Tottenham Hotspur over the coming years.

It has been widely reported over the last couple of weeks that there will be a mass exodus from Tottenham this summer as the club undertakes a massive squad revamp, with the Lilywhites already thought to be listening to offers for a whole host of first-team stars (Football Insider).

Postecoglou himself has confirmed the same sentiment, making it clear last week that some difficult decisions will have to be made this summer as good players will have to be sold and replaced with people who are better suited to his system (Guardian).

However, one man who is not expected to go anywhere is Son, with various reports suggesting that the forward is expected to sign a new contract.

This includes a recent update by TBR Football, who claimed that the Tottenham captain is keen to finalise a new deal this summer.

Postecoglou says Son is firmly in his Tottenham plans

When Postecoglou was asked if it is fair to assume that Son will not be among the players let go and will remain a key player next season, the Tottenham head coach joked to Football.London: “Jeez, that’s a huge leap for you, mate. What a bold prediction to make that Sonny is going to be part of our future! Yeah, he’s going to be part of our future.”

There are often transfer rumours when world-class players near the end of their contracts. However, there has been almost no noise around Son, which is a clear sign that he and his representatives have not encouraged approaches from any clubs and have already decided to sign a new deal at Spurs.
