Heung-min Son was notably absent in Tottenham’s latest Premier League game, but it sounds like Ange Postecoglou is staying positive when it comes to the fitness of his captain.

Sonny will have been celebrating
After being replaced in the 70th minute of the midweek Europa League win over Qarabag, there were concerns that Heung-min Son may have sustained an injury.
It was touch and go heading into the weekend whether we would see the Spurs skipper in action against Manchester United on Sunday in the Premier League.
Ultimately, the South Korean was not deemed fit enough to make the matchday squad, but Ange Postecoglou has provided an update on the 32-year-old that sounds fairly positive.
After the win over Manchester United, Postecoglou told the club website: “We’ll see [on Sonny’s situation]. I’m sure he’s running around the lounge right now, mate! We’ll see how he is when we get back to London. Hopefully, it’s nothing too bad.”

Spurs didn’t need Son
Many Spurs fans feared the worst when Son was excluded from the squad for the trip to Old Trafford, but they needn’t have worried.
While his replacement, Timo Werner, did not have the best of games, the players around him excelled as Spurs romped to a 3-0 win against the Red Devils.
Brennan Johnson and Dominic Solanke continued their goalscoring run, while Dejan Kulusevski capped a fine performance with a nicely-taken goal, too.
Whether Tottenham would have been any more dominant with Son in the team is hard to say, but it was already a pretty much perfect performance all around anyway.

Postecoglou should rest Son in midweek regardless
Up next for Spurs is an away trip to Hungary to take on Ferencvaros in the Europa League. With all due respect to the upcoming opponents, we should not need Sonny for that game, and even if he is fit, he should sit on the bench for the whole match and rest up ahead of next weekend’s game against Brighton.
