Postecoglou reveals whether he is tempted to give Heung-min Son a rest at Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has been facing the press this morning ahead of the Premier League match against Liverpool on Sunday afternoon, and he admitted he is tempted to give Heung-min Son a rest at some point.

Less than 24 hours after Spurs’ disappointing 2-0 defeat to an injury-depleted Chelsea team at Stamford Bridge, the Australian has been fielding questions prior to the trip to Anfield.

For the second game in a row, the North Londoners failed to register a shot on target in the first half, and once again set pieces were their downfall with both of Chelsea’s goals coming from free-kicks.

Postecoglou made his feelings known to his players before the half-time break when he lambasted both Pape Matar Sarr and Cristian Romero for not playing the ball into forward areas.

Tottenham now face a tough trip to Liverpool, who have seen their title hopes slip by in recent weeks while last night’s defeat at Chelsea has all but ended their chances of pipping Aston Villa to Champions League qualification.

The press asked Postecoglou whether he is tempted to hand captain Heung-min Son a rest, to which the Spurs manager replied (Football London): “Yeah, look it’s been a big challenge for Sonny this year on a lot of fronts. Not just the game, but the leadership also. It’s only natural there would be some point where and again he’s got to embrace this challenge because it’s not going to change.

“There isn’t a point if you want to be successful where the relentlessness of that changes. So, you need to embrace that, understand that and knowing Sonny he will do just that. He will find a way to work his way through it.”
