Postecoglou reveals whether he sees clear signs of progress in his Tottenham team

Ange Postecoglou has declared that he can see clear signs of progress from his Tottenham side over the course of the season, even though results have not been great over the last couple of months.

Most Spurs fans will acknowledge that Postecoglou’s first season in charge has been a success, especially given the state the club was in when the Australian arrived last summer.

Tottenham were coming off an eight-place finish and had just lost their record goalscorer in Harry Kane, with not many pundits giving the Lilywhites a chance of finishing in the top six at the start of the campaign.

So even though Spurs now look set to miss out on Champions League qualification, the club do appear to be moving in the right direction.

Postecoglou sees clear signs of progress at Tottenham

However, it is undeniable that Tottenham’s performances over the last couple of months have not been of the same level as we saw from the side at the start of the season, with the North London side often struggling to break down opposition defences and also leaking some soft goals.

When Postecoglou was asked if he has seen signs of progress during his tenure, the 58-year-old emphatically answered (via Football.London): “Absolutely, I can see them clearly. 20/20. 100%.”

Progress is not always linear and often involves setbacks as we saw with Arsenal in the early days of Arteta and Liverpool in Klopp’s first season.

Despite the poor results of late, there is a lot to be excited about with the current Tottenham project and there is no reason why we cannot make a significant step up next season with a few quality additions to the squad this summer.
