Postecoglou says one Spurs player is injured again – Three were ill this week too

Ange Postecoglou has admitted that Ryan Sessegnon is injured once again, just one game after returning from a long-term lay-off at Tottenham.

The left-back came on against Burnley in the FA Cup last week to make his first appearance of the season, and earn his first minutes under Postecoglou.

Unfortunately, any form of momentum has gone out the window for Sessegnon this week, as it often has throughout his Tottenham career. The former Fulham man picked up another knock last week that will keep him out for much of January.

Postecoglou also admitted that a virus went through Hotspur Way in the build-up to the Man United game this week, with Dejan Kulusevski being unavailable due to illness. Destiny Udogie and Oliver Skipp also apparently suffered, but were well enough to start against the Red Devils.

Spurs were at least able to welcome Cristian Romero and Micky Van de Ven back into the starting XI for the first time since their injuries.

Spurs hit with injuries and illnesses this week

On Sessegnon, Postecoglou said (Alasdair Gold): “He’s got a slight niggle from last week so he missed this week and will hopefully be available in a couple of weeks [for the next match].”

On the illnesses, he added (Alasdair Gold): “Deki was so desperate to play. Skippy, Destiny, two or three others have struggled with it. Doesn’t matter though, these guys are not going to make excuses.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

If this is the level of performance we can put in away at Old Trafford without half the first-team then the future is very exciting under Postecoglou!
