Postecoglou says Spurs player is ‘not anywhere near’ a return despite 5 months out

Looking ahead to tomorrow’s Premier League game against Crystal Palace, Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has revealed Manor Solomon is still quite some distance away from being match ready, and isn’t even in a position to train with the other players yet.

Manor Solomon signed for Spurs on a free transfer last summer, and made a relatively promising start to the campaign with two assists in his first five Premier League appearances (Transfermarkt).

However, the 24-year-old has not played since the end of September, with a meniscus injury keeping the attacker on the sidelines for the last five months already.

Since then, Ange Postecoglou has added Timo Werner to his squad, which has filled the void left behind by Solomon’s injury.

There had been hope that Solomon was nearing a return soon, but that appears to be far from the case.

Manor Solomon is not ready to train

During today’s press conference (via Football.London), Postecoglou provided an update on Solomon’s injury status, and it’s safe to say it’s not good news for the winger right now.

He said: “Manor is sort of progressing but is still not anywhere near rejoining the group. He still has a bit of a way to go. Again, it is another frustrating one for him.

“He is working really hard, keen to get back and we were hoping for an early return date, but it’s been little things along the way that have set him back. Fair to say, he is still a fair bit away from the group.”

Spurs Web Opinion

What a frustrating season it has been for Manor Solomon. He looked like a promising squad player early on, and could have been a very useful squad player, especially in terms of providing an impact from the bench. I wonder if we will even see him again this season, to be honest.
