Postecoglou says Spurs star is ready to start games again for the first time in over a month

Richarlison played another five minutes against Luton Town at the weekend, and Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou now insists the Brazilian striker is back to full fitness and is ready to play from the start.

After picking up a knee injury last month, Richarlison missed the wins over Crystal Palace and Aston Villa.

The 26-year-old managed ten minutes from the bench in the defeat against Fulham before the international break, but was unable to make an impact at Craven Cottage.

He didn’t get any minutes for Brazil during that international break, but returned to Tottenham this weekend for a five-minute cameo against Luton Town. Richarlison replaced Yves Bissouma in the 85th minute of the win on Saturday.

Richarlison has been in fine form for Spurs this season, racking up 11 goals and three assists across 27 appearances in all competitions (Transfermarkt).

Richarlison is ready to start for Spurs

When asked whether the forward is fit enough to start games in his press conference, Ange Postecoglou had a reassuring update for Spurs fans and revealed Richarlison is ready to start a game now.

He told Football.London: “Yeah, yeah, he was much better after the game and he felt a lot better. He trained yesterday and he’ll train this afternoon. He feels good now.”

It remains to be seen whether Richarlison will get the nod to start against West Ham tomorrow, or whether Heung-min Son will retain his place in the centre-forward role. There will also be decisions to be made for Postecoglou when it comes to Timo Werner, Brennan Johnson, and Dejan Kulusevski out wide.

This is great news. But, I would probably go for a starting three of Brennan Johnson, Timo Werner, and Heung-min Son for the West Ham game anyway, and let Richarlison build his sharpness with more minutes from the bench.
