Postecoglou says Spurs star may have ‘done his hamstring’ against Burnley

Speaking to the press after seeing his side progress in the FA Cup with a 1-0 win over Burnley tonight, Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou spoke of his hope that both Ben Davies and Giovani Lo Celso are not added to his injury list.

Ange Postecoglou‘s first taste of the FA Cup ended in success tonight, as Spurs scraped a tight game against fellow Premier League side Burnley, securing a win through a stunning Pedro Porro long-range effort.

Spurs had the majority of possession and their fair share of chances, but appeared more timid and flat than we have come to expect from the Lilywhites under Postecoglou this season.

With a full-strength team fielded by the Spurs boss, there will be relief that the home side got the win in the end, avoiding an inconvenient replay in the process.

It wasn’t pretty, but Spurs made it in the end and can now look forward to a lengthy break ahead of the game against Manchester United on the 14th January, before taking on an unknown opponent in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Davies and Lo Celso could be injured

However, the win may have come at a cost, with another two players at risk of leaving the game with an injury. In his post match press conference (via Football.London), Postecoglou discussed the potential issues for both Ben Davies and Giovani Lo Celso.

He said: “Ben Davies looks like he’s done his hamstring. Gio [Lo Celso] also came off but I’m hoping it’s just tiredness.”

Spurs Web Opinion

With Micky van de Ven on his way back and a new centre-back hopefully signing soon, we can just about afford to lose Davies if he is injured, but obviously we’d rather he wasn’t. As for Lo Celso, we really need him right now with Maddison still out, so we are praying he was just fatigued.
