Timo Werner took part in his first-ever Tottenham training session on Wednesday, and his new boss Ange Postecoglou had a heartwarming message to welcome the 27-year-old to the club.
In one of the biggest surprises of the transfer window so far, Tottenham moved quickly to acquire former Chelsea winger, Timo Werner, on a six-month loan deal.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Spurs will have the option to make the move permanent should they wish, for as little as £14.6m.
Already, it has been revealed that Spurs boss, Ange Postecoglou, was a ‘big advocate’ for the signing of Werner (Philipp Hinze). The player himself is thought to be very excited about the prospect of finding his best form in the Australian’s system (Fabrizio Romano).
In his first interview as a Spurs player, Werner was full of praise for the club and insisted he is here to win titles with the Lilywhites. He also revealed just how influential Postecoglou was in his decision to move to North London (Football.London).
What did Postecoglou say to Werner in his first training session?
Now Werner has joined up with his new teammates, he has had the pleasure of a big, warm welcome from Postecoglou, and a piece from Football.London reveals what was said.
With the team gathered, Postecoglou said: “Morning lads, just before we get onto training I just want to welcome Timo to the group. And again, welcome mate. We wish you all the very best from everyone here.
“From my perspective, we talk about family a lot, part of our process is that people can come in. I think we’ve made them feel comfortable on and off the field and I think that he can help us because he’s here for his career but he’s here to help us as well. So it’s important that we try and make him feel comfortable, so welcome mate.”

It is very easy to see why players are flocking to work with Ange Postecoglou, if this is the way he treats them. This is the perfect message to send to Timo: not only is he a valued member of the squad who can benefit the team, but it is also clear that Ange is ready to help him, in return.
