Potential Harry Kane boost for Spurs as journalist claims club’s interest has gone ‘cold’

Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has claimed that Bayern Munich are not optimistic about their chances of landing Harry Kane in the summer.

The latest reports that emerged regarding Kane’s future this week were music to the ears of Spurs fans and have lifted some of the doom and gloom that was surrounding the club.

The Athletic’s David Ornstein suggested on Monday that the England captain was open to extending his current deal with Tottenham and added that the North London club will open talks with the striker at the end of the January transfer window.

Kane himself then hinted in an interview with The Evening Standard on Tuesday that he will hold talks over the ‘coming months’ and added that he remains fully focussed on helping Spurs achieve their objectives for the season.

Plettenberg has now revealed that although Bayern have been in contact with the Tottenham man’s entourage, they are not confident about their chances of snapping him up in the summer.

When asked about the Bundesliga giants’ interest in Kane, the journalist told Sky Sports’ The Transfer Show: “I had a call about Harry Kane a few hours ago. He is still on the [Bayern Munich] list. In the summer, it was very hard. He is still on the list, but now we hear it’s cold.

“The chances to get him in the summer are very slim. The Bayern bosses aren’t very optimistic to get him in the summer, but they have been in contact.

“Kane was open to joining Bayern, to make that step to the Bundesliga, but he’s too expensive for them at the moment. At this stage, we have to say – Kane and Bayern is cold.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I never felt that Bayern had any chance of signing Kane. Even if the striker decides not to commit his future to Spurs, I do not see him wanting to leave the Premier League, especially as he draws closer to Alan Shearer’s record. The striker’s decision over his future will likely depend on the club’s results over the coming months.
