Yang Min-hyeok is continuing to impress at Queens Park Rangers and Tottenham fans will be very pleased to hear what is being said about the 18-year-old’s latest performance against Sheffield United over the weekend.
Some eyebrows were raised when Tottenham decided to loan Yang Min-hyeok to Queens Park Rangers, just a month after he arrived at Hotspur Way. Cynics questioned whether the winger was of the required quality and even wondered whether he had only been brought into the club for commercial reasons.
However, Yang has shown so far at QPR just why he is considered to be one of the best young talents in South Korea, going from strength to strength with each outing for the Championship side.
The 18-year-old has featured in all six of QPR’s league games since joining the club and Yang registered his first assist for the club against Derby County last month with a brilliant bit of play.

Yang Min-hyeok hailed for his latest QPR performance
The teenager started on the right again for Rangers as they fell to a 2-1 loss at Loftus Road to promotion-chasing Sheffield United on Saturday.
The on-loan Spurs winger was taken off after 66 minutes by manager Marti Cifuentes, but his performance has received rave reviews from the local press, who appear convinced that the Korean is a special talent.
London World gave Yang a rating of eight out of 10 and wrote: “The potential here is crazy. Bullied off the ball for the Sheffield United opener, but that goal was not solely his fault with unconvincing defending.
“Looked a threat every time the ball landed at his feet. Would have had his first QPR goal if found by [Kieran] Morgan.”
Meanwhile, West London Sport were a little more reserved about their judgement, identifying one weakness in the winger’s game.
They wrote about Yang’s performance against the Blades: “Prone to being nudged off the ball, which is understandable given his size and inexperience, and the first goal came after he was robbed. He did look lively going forward though.”
Could Yang push for a first-team spot at Tottenham next season?
One has to remember that Yang is still learning the ropes, having had just one full season of professional football before making the switch to Tottenham.
The experience at QPR will be invaluable for the youngster’s development and he will certainly return to Hotspur Way a little more polished.
The teenager will be handed opportunities to catch Postecoglou’s eye in pre-season and given the manner he has tackled all challenges put in front of him so far, one should not discount Yang forcing himself into the Australian’s first-team plans for next season.
