Powell: “Kane is world class. I’ll stop that debate right now”

Former Charlton and Leicester City defender Chris Powell says there is no question that Harry Kane is world class.
.
Our England striker has scored eleven goals in his last six games in all competitions. He also hit 29 league goals last term to win the Premier League’s Golden Boot award for the second season running.

Speaking last night, before Kane’s heroics this afternoon against Huddersfield, Powell is in no doubt as to whether England have a world-class talent on their hands.

Powell, a guest on Sky Sports show The Debate, said “With the way he’s been this month, for him to score the goals he has already, he’s world class – I’ll stop that debate right now,”

“People ask: is he, isn’t he? Without a doubt, we’ve got a player who could be almost like an Alan Shearer-type goalscorer in the Premier League, and for England.”

Kane has set his sights on the highest levels by aiming to join Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi as a world-class superstar.

However former Liverpool and Spurs midfielder Danny Murphy, who joined Powell on The Debate, doesn’t believe Kane is at the level of Ronaldo and Messi yet.

Murphy said “Ability-wise, he is world class,”
“The longevity will determine whether he is world class. For me, you can have world class, but everyone has a different meaning for world class.
“My translation is the longevity, and he is three years in and still doing it. So I don’t see a halt to it.”

Kane will be the lead the attacking threat for England going in to next week qualifiers and despite Dele being suspended for one game, Murphy said the prospect of unleashing the Tottenham duo at international level is perhaps the greatest cause for optimism regarding England’s chances at next summer’s World Cup.

Murphy said: “If you look at the Kane – Dele Alli partnership, how many of the best clubs in Europe wouldn’t want those players? That’s the level they’re at.
“If they keep developing, keep building that relationship, that is a hell of a weapon to go into a tournament with.
“That’s why I’ve said in recent times, play Dele Alli and Kane in the roles they play for Tottenham.”They are special.”

Despite his indifferent form so far, Alli remains an integral player for both England and Spurs. It’s a big season for the young man and if Harry Kane continues his scoring streak then there is every chance it will be a memorable season for them both for club and country.
