Praise for Pochettino from England pair

Harry Kane and Harry Winks have spoken with Sky Sports News saying they “cannot thank Mauricio Pochettino enough” for the Tottenham manager’s hand in their England careers.

Kane was again his country’s captain and scored the winning goal as Winks made his senior international debut in the 1-0 win over Lithuania.

The article says that the duo are two of twelve Premier League players that have made their England debuts under Pochettino at Spurs and Southampton, and Kane was full of praise for Winksy, who has also described his debut as “a dream come true”.

Hemel Hempstead born Winks enthused: “(Mauricio) is a fantastic manager and he has a lot of belief in us. Not only does he give us the opportunity but he gives us advice when we need it.

“I can’t thank him enough for everything he’s done for me. I suppose it’s about me paying it back, and fortunately, it went well tonight.

“It was a great day. To get the win was the main thing obviously but, on a personal note, it was a dream come true. I’ve wanted to play for England since I can remember; as soon as I kicked a ball. It’s something you aspire to do at any level. To get a full cap is a dream.”

On top of his winner in Vilnius, the other Harry (Kane) also scored the winner against Slovenia at Wembley last Thursday, a goal that sealed England’s place in the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Kane, who is flying at the minute and being mentioned in the same breath as Ronaldo and Messi, said: “These players earning their England debuts show Mauricio’s one of the best managers in the world, if not the best.

“He brings players through, gives them chances on the big stage and they deliver for him. We can’t thank him enough for that. He deserves all the credit. He helped us get to where we are now, and Harry is another player under his management.

“I thought he played really well tonight. He was probably one of the best players on the pitch. He deserves it. He’s come in and worked hard. I’m delighted for him and his family should be very proud.”

So a ringing endorsement for their manager from the two Harry’s. Do you agree with Kane that Mauricio is one of the worlds best? The argument being that he’s yet to win any silverware. Is that only a matter of time? Let us have your thoughts.
