Predicted Tottenham starting XI for pre-season friendly vs Roma – Bissouma starts

Tottenham travel to Israel to take on AS Roma in the I-Tech Cup this evening and here’s the side we think Antonio Conte will start with at the Sammy Ofer Stadium.

Spurs have put together an unbeaten run in their pre-season preparations thus far. Respective 6-3 and 2-1 wins against Team K-League and Rangers were separated by a 1-1 draw with Sevilla.

The final test before next weekend’s Premier League opener against Southampton comes against Jose Mourinho’s Roma.

I Giallorossi themselves head into the game having played out four pre-season ties, resulting in two victories, one draw and one loss (AS Roma).

With the prospect of the new season looming, both teams will be hoping to bring intensity tonight, and with Mourinho’s recent history with the Lilywhites, it could turn out to be a feisty affair.

Sticking with Conte’s preferred 3-4-3, this is how we think the Italian will position his troops for the clash.

Lloris (C); Romero, Dier, Lenglet, Royal, Hojbjerg, Bissouma, Perisic, Kulusevski, Son, Kane.

Conte is likely to want to pick a side which could feasibly line up in the Premier League next weekend, so we think he will go strong from the start.

Although Ben Davies has made the trip to Haifa with the squad, trouble with his ankle could rule him out and consequently bring about a first start for on-loan Barcelona man Clement Lenglet.

Another starting debut could be handed to Ivan Perisic. The Croatian showed glimpses of his deadly one-on-one dribbling against Rangers last weekend and Conte will be hoping to get him up to speed ahead of the first competitive test.

We see Yves Bissouma getting the nod in midfield alongside Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Spurs fans will certainly be excited to see whether the two can build an understanding.

Due to Richarlison’s one-game ban which will be served against Saints next weekend (Football.London), Conte will surely opt for an unchanged front three.

We’re expecting to see cameos for the Brazilian forward, as well as Djed Spence, as the new pair look to gel into the squad.

The game will air at 7:45 pm (UK time) and is available to watch via Spurs Play.
