Predicted Tottenham starting XI to face Manchester City in the FA Cup

We expect James Maddison to be back in the starting eleven against Manchester City on Friday if the midfielder comes through the training sessions unscathed this week.

Following the mini winter break, Spurs return to action on Friday in a mouthwatering FA Cup fourth-round clash against Man City.

The FA Cup represents Tottenham’s best chance of silverware this season, with Ange Postecoglou naming a full-strength team in the third round against Burnley, and he is expected to do the same for Friday’s clash.

While Spurs are without Son Heung-min, Yves Bissouma and Pape Sarr, who are at the Asian Cup and African Cup of Nations, Postecoglou did welcome back Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven against Manchester United two weeks ago.

According to reports over the last few days, Maddison and Manor Solomon are also expected to be back in training this week ahead of the big clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (Telegraph).

We will have to wait for Postecoglou’s press conference for confirmation on the fitness status of the pair but we at Spurs Web expect Maddison to come straight back into the eleven if he is fit.

Predicted Tottenham team to face Man City:

Guglielmo Vicario, Pedro Porro, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Destiny Udogie, Oliver Skipp, Rodrigo Bentancur, James Maddison, Dejan Kukusevski, Brennan Johnson and Richarlison.

In the event that Maddison is not quite ready to start and Giovani Lo Celso also fails to recover in time, we expect Kulusevski to play as the number ten and Timo Werner to slot into the left.
