Predicted Tottenham XI to face Eintracht Frankfurt – Dejan Kulusevski starts, Djed Spence dropped

Tottenham Hotspur are back in Europa League action on Thursday, just days after their disappointing 4-2 defeat at Molineux. Let’s take a look at our predicted Tottenham XI to face Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany.

With Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League form only getting worse with each passing match week, fans will be hoping for a more positive result in the Europa League.

Thursday, 17 April 2025, is set to see the Lilywhites take on Eintracht Frankfurt in the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final tie.

It’s a game where Tottenham need nothing but a victory if they’re to secure passage to the last four of the competition, where either Bodo/Glimt or Lazio awaits.

Let’s take a look at our predicted XI to face Frankfurt on Thursday.

Predicted Tottenham XI vs Eintracht Frankfurt in Europa League quarter-final second leg

Goalkeeper – Guglielmo Vicario: Despite a horror show where Vicario was at fault for two of Tottenham’s goals, we expect the Italian to maintain his spot as the starting goalkeeper on Thursday.

Right-back – Pedro Porro: Porro was handed some much-needed rest on Sunday against Wolves and should return to the right-back spot after Archie Gray’s rather poor display.

Centre-back – Cristian Romero: A costly mistake on Sunday for Wolves’ third of the afternoon was the standout moment from Romero, who now has fans turning against him. The centre-back should keep his spot, as he remains one of the Lilywhites’ better players.

Centre-back – Micky van de Ven: Van de Ven was wrapped in cotton wool on Sunday, as Tottenham continue to remain cautious with the pacy defender. He should return to the XI on Thursday.

Left-back – Destiny Udogie: Udogie was given a rest on Sunday after he came off with cramps in the first leg against Frankfurt. The full-back is expected to come in for Djed Spence this midweek.

Pivot midfielder – Lucas Bergvall: Ange Postecoglou tried to freshen things up in midfield on Sunday by starting Yves Bissouma. That clearly didn’t work out, which means Bergvall, who made a mistake for the fourth goal, should come back into the side against Frankfurt.

Central midfielder – Rodrigo Bentancur: Pape Matar Sarr put in another underwhelming display on Sunday, as he struggled to have any impact against Wolves. Bentancur, on the other hand, was one of Tottenham’s better players against Frankfurt last week and should return to the starting eleven.

Central midfielder – James Maddison: It’s a tricky one with Maddison. With Dejan Kulusevski now back, he could well start in the No.10 role on Thursday, but we’d opt for the Englishman in the centre.

Left midfielder – Heung-min Son: Son was said to have been dealing with a minor foot injury and is expected to be fit for Thursday’s clash.

Striker – Dominic Solanke: Solanke’s drought continues and, with Richarlison still being eased back in, it’s expected that the Englishman continues to lead the line.

Right midfielder – Dejan Kulusevski: A lively and eventful 15 minutes from the bench after Postecoglou revealed that a return on Sunday was too soon following Kulusevski’s return to training. We do expect him to start on Thursday against Frankfurt.
