Predicted Tottenham XI to face Wolves – Postecoglou makes seven changes

Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League campaign resumes with a trip to the West Midlands, where Wolves await—and with little left to play for, all eyes are quietly drifting towards Europe. Let’s take a look at our predicted Tottenham XI to face Wolves on Sunday.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Sunday-Thursday schedule continues as they return to Premier League action—this time against 17th-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers.

With only five points separating the two sides, Viktor Pereira’s team will be desperate to close the gap on 14th-placed Spurs and create more breathing space between themselves and the bottom three.

Tottenham, on the other hand, know the league campaign is all but a dead rubber. And while Postecoglou will want a positive result in the West Midlands, there’s no denying that his focus will already be shifting towards the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final.

Predicted Tottenham Hotspur XI to face Wolves in the Premier League

Goalkeeper – Guglielmo Vicario: While we’d love to see Ange Postecoglou rotate the entire XI against Wolves, that’s probably a stretch too far—so Vicario should keep his place between the sticks.

Left-back – Djed Spence: Udogie got the nod in Europe but had to come off with cramp. We’re expecting Spence to step in at left-back on Sunday.

Centre-back – Ben Davies: No risks need to be taken with either of the first-choice centre-backs, so Davies should come in for Romero.

Centre-back – Archie Gray: Gray has shown he can do a job at the back, and we expect Postecoglou to turn to him instead of van de Ven this weekend.

Right-back – Pedro Porro: With Gray in central defence, Porro slots in at right-back—unless Postecoglou fancies giving Reguilon a rare run-out.

Pivot midfielder – Yves Bissouma: Bissouma’s lost his starting role to Bergvall, but with a need to freshen things up, the Malian should return to the XI.

Central midfielder – Pape Matar Sarr: Sarr got a brief cameo off the bench on Thursday, and with starts hard to come by lately, this could be his shot—possibly in place of Bentancur, who impressed midweek.

Central midfielder – James Maddison: We expect Maddison to keep his place—his creativity will be key in what’s likely to be a scrappy midfield battle.

Right midfielder – Mathys Tel: Tel got off the mark in the Premier League last week and will be itching to add to that. He should come in for Son, who Postecoglou will want to keep fresh for Thursday.

Striker – Dominic Solanke: Richarlison got a short runout off the bench and could easily lead the line, but Solanke is in dire need of a confidence boost—hopefully, this is the game he breaks his duck.

Left midfielder – Wilson Odobert: Odobert sat out on Thursday, with Brennan Johnson preferred. The young Frenchman should get his chance to shine again on Sunday as he looks to force his way back into the side for the return leg.
