Predicted Tottenham XI to start friendly against Nice on Wednesday

Tottenham Hotspur take on Nice in their final friendly of the mid-season break this Wednesday, following their wins over Motherwell and Peterborough U21s.

While the World Cup does not officially end until Sunday, with Hugo Lloris’ France and Cristian Romero’s Argentina going head to head, a number of Tottenham’s World Cup stars have already returned to training.

We believe that Alfie Whiteman will start between the sticks with Hugo Lloris at the World Cup and Fraser Forster currently out of action.

In defence, Eric Dier returns fresh from England duty without having played too many minutes, so he slots straight in alongside Clement Lenglet on the left and Japhet Tanganga on the right.

At left-wing-back, Matt Doherty continues to cover while Ivan Perisic is at the World Cup and Ryan Sessegnon is recovering from an injury. Djed Spence is then free to play at right-wing-back for the third friendly in a row.

In midfield, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg returns to partner Oliver Skipp, with Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma on the bench for the second half.

And up front, Heung-min Son returns to lead the line, with Dejan Kulusevski on the right and Bryan Gil on the left. Harry Kane will likely be given half an hour or so in the second half.
