Predicted XI to start against Fulham

Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to put their defeat to Manchester United behind them this week in the Premier League.

Pochettino’s men face a London derby as they travel to Fulham, with a win needed to keep well ahead of the lurking United and Arsenal.

Spurs must however win without star man Harry Kane, as well as Lucas Moura and Heung Min Son, who are all unavailable up top.

Hugo Lloris retains his starting spot, but we believe Pochettino will switch to a back three tomorrow.

Vertonghen, Sanchez, and Alderweireld line up together for the first time in months, with Rose coming in for Davies, and Aurier replacing the out-of-form Trippier.

Eriksen drops back into central midfield to help Winks, while Alli and Lamela sit behind Fernando Llorente, Tottenham’s only available striker.

We may also see the emergence of an academy player or two on the bench, with Sterling and Parrott being the most likely.

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. Needs must. To look at the big picture, you have to appreciate we have started well this season, and holding onto third place with a threadbare squad will be a mighty challenge. However, to be optimistic, I must consider that in the recent past, we have weathered the storm before with steel, and stepped up to the plate when we have lost Kane. Yes we have hardly no midfield of any real strength, and if I had to choose, I’d say getting through to the League Cup final is a must. The points are tight at the top of the league still, so even if we drop any more points, when our injured players do make it back, it’ll boost us for the final hurdle.

  2. I’d tweak it a little.

    Toby Foyth Davies
    Aurier Winks Eriksen Rose
    Lamela Dele

    Then against Chelsea on Thurs:

    Toby Sanchez Jan
    KWP Wink Dier Rose
    Dele Moura Eriksen

  3. In any system Eriksen cannot be be placed in the middle with Winks. He will not be physical enough or compete enough, we have see that every time he plays there. Christian is best left to purely be pretty much free and just hope his creativity outweighs the other parts of his game. Why not try Foyth in the middle he seems to have good ball skills and will compete all over the field. If not anybody but Eriksen just play one midfielder then so at least of the guys do not think somebody is covered he makes it worse. He actually does all the running but that is it, never does a foot go in for real, it just acting.
