Report: Premier League centre-back linked with Spurs move drops hint over his future

Liverpool centre-back, Dejan Lovren, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur this summer, has hinted that he might stay put at Anfield next season.

Lovren, who has been at Liverpool for six seasons since joining from Southampton, has now fallen down the pecking order within Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

TEAMtalk previously reported that the Liverpool boss will allow the 30-year-old to leave the club at the end of the season.

Spurs have been linked with a move for the Croatian international but reports suggest they face competition from their North London rivals, Arsenal, as well as Serie A side, Lazio (La Lazio Siamo Noi).

Lovren has now discussed Liverpool’s long-term ambitions and the importance of having a mixture of youth and experience within the squad, which the Express report is a hint that he might stay with the Reds.

Speaking to Liverpool’s official website, the experienced defender said: “It’s important to have a mix between really young players, the middle [age] players and the experienced players. I think we have it, this is a great balance.

“We are used to playing big finals and the big games and we know how to manage it. Even when we are 1-0 down we know what to do. This is why it’s important to have a balance in the team.

“If we keep the important players and the core of the team here for many years, we will only grow.”

Spurs Web Opinion

While I do believe that Lovren is underrated by many fans, I still don’t think he is of the requisite quality for us as he does have the occasional mistake in him. However, I can see the club moving for the 30-year-old this summer if he became available.
