Premier League club now lead the race to sign Brennan Johnson from Tottenham

A new report has provided an update on the race for Tottenham star Brennan Johnson, with one Premier League club currently ahead of the rest.

Johnson, who was a fixture in Tottenham’s starting line-up last season, has made just six Premier League starts this term under Thomas Frank.

It has been reported over the last week that the Spurs winger has not convinced Frank and his coaching staff, and his future at the North London club is in major doubt.

It was reported a couple of days ago that Aston Villa, Bournemouth and Crystal Palace are all chasing Johnson, but one club have now allegedly moved ahead of the rest in the transfer race.

Latest on Brennan Johnson’s race as Tottenham’s stance revealed

A new report in BBC Sport has now explained that Tottenham are not actively looking to sell the former Nottingham Forest man in January.

However, it is revealed that the Lilywhites are willing to let Johnson leave if a suitable offer comes their way next month.

The report claims that several clubs across the Premier League are now monitoring the Spurs winger’s situation closely.

As things stand, it is said that Palace are currently the club with the most advanced interest in Johnson ahead of the January transfer window.

What fee do Spurs want for Johnson?

Earlier this week, TEAMtalk claimed that Tottenham’s willingness to hold onto the 24-year-old is expected to be ‘seriously tested’ in the upcoming transfer window as interest in his services continues to grow.

The same update claimed that Spurs would be willing to cash in on Johnson for £50m, having signed him for £47.5 from Forest two and a half years ago.

Interestingly, the outlet also posited that the Lilywhites could accept a slightly lower fee for Johnson if certain fee conditions are included in the deal.
