Premier League legend describes how ‘intelligent’ Spurs player knows he is ‘slower’

Over the course of the season, Harry Kane has maintained a level of form that has been simply outstanding.

The England captain has been the driving force behind the slim chances that Tottenham has of entering the top-four.

Spurs will enter the run-in just five points behind Chelsea and seven behind Leicester.

The 27-year-old will also be looking for more personal accolades, going into this weekend Kane tops both the charts for goals scored and assists.

Tottenham’s talisman has scored twenty-one league goals in the campaign and has assisted in double figures (transfermarkt).

Andy Cole believes that the England striker has become ‘slower’ as a result of ankle issues over the years, which has resulted in him having to drop deeper and use his intelligence.

The former Newcastle and Manchester United man was speaking to Premier League Productions about the striker.

When describing the way Kane plays, Cole stated: “Harry does that for a reason. When you are picking up certain injuries, you become a yard slower. You do drop that little bit deeper because you know what you used to do, I can’t actually do that anymore. He is intelligent enough to do it now.”

The form of Kane was certainly one of the few bright sparks in the Jose Mourinho tenure at the club.

Supporters will be hoping that the 27-year-old will be staying in North London to create a similar rapport with the eventual new manager.

Spurs Web Opinion:

It has to be said that Kane has reached a level at Spurs that should put him down as a favourite for the Premier League player of the year. However, such an array of talent when dropping deep has been seen for years. Mauricio Pochettino often utilised it during his time at the club.
