Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson has claimed the pressure is firmly on Spurs ahead of both sides meeting at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Tottenham entered their midweek fixture against Manchester United having enjoyed their best-ever start to a Premier League campaign, however, defeat coupled with a disappointing performance at Old Trafford has brought them back down to earth.
The Magpies under Eddie Howe are enjoying a solid campaign, having only lost one of their opening eleven top-flight matches along with avoiding defeat in their last six which has seen them just five points behind Antonio Conte’s side in the table.
Wilson has shifted all of the spotlight onto Tottenham who are looking to evade successive defeats as they look to keep within touching distance of the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City.
He told The Independent: “We’ve gone to Man United, picked up a positive result then won at home, so you could say the pressure isn’t on us and the pressure is on Tottenham.
“They’re at home and kind of have that confidence, but we want to go there and test ourselves against a team that is up there in the league as well. That’s where we want to be at and we’ll see how we get on at the weekend.
“We’ll go there and focus on playing well and the result will hopefully take care of itself.”

Wilson is absolutely right, the pressure is firmly on Tottenham to get a result and it is something that the north London faithful will expect, especially after what they witnessed at Old Trafford.
Spurs need to take the game to the Magpies rather than looking to sit back and hit them at the counter, especially when playing at home. If Conte keeps his 3-5-2, the midfield trio have to do a lot better in getting the ball moving.
