Preston manager claims Tottenham have made a decision about Troy Parrott

Preston North End manager Ryan Lowe has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have given the go-ahead for Troy Parrott to play after assessing the striker’s fitness.

Parrott has only found the back of the net twice in 15 appearances for Preston this season (Transfermarkt) as the Championship club struggled as an attacking force in the first part of 2022-23.

The 20-year-old picked up a knee injury at the start of October and has subsequently missed 13 matches so far across all competitions.

Lowe stated last week that Parrott was back training outdoors but he explained that the striker would have to be assessed by Tottenham, with the North London club making the final decision on when he can be selected (Irish Mirror).

The 44-year-old has now provided a positive update on the matter, revealing that Spurs have given the green light for the striker to be involved again. However, Parrott was not ready to make the FA Cup third-round clash against Huddersfield this weekend.

Lowe told The Irish Mirror: “Troy has trained well the last four days. He has been given the all-clear by Tottenham.”

The World Cup break came at the right time for Parrott, who could have missed a big chunk of the season under normal circumstances. The striker might take a few weeks to get fully match fit and will be hoping to have a much better second half of the campaign.
