Promising youngster speaks out after impressive trial at Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur already have a wealth of talent in their academy system, with the likes of Oliver Skipp, Luke Amos, Kyle Walker-Peters, Troy Parrott, and Kazaiah Sterling all progressing nicely.

Of course, first team stars Harry Kane and Harry Winks were also products of the Tottenham academy, and have gone on to become stars for club and country.

Spurs may be about to add to their academy set up with a 17-year-old Notts County starlet.

Kion Etete had a trial at Spurs a few weeks ago, scoring twice for the U18s against West Ham in early March.

This has fuelled speculation that Pochettino may sign the young player up, and Etete has now spoken out on his footballing future.

The teenager claims he wants to be playing regular first team football at the very top by the age of 22, giving his five years to achieve that dream.

However, he did not hint as to which club he could end up at.

Etete said (NottinghamPost): “I’m eligible to represent England and Nigeria. I’m not sure, and it would be an honour (to play for Nigeria) but I would have to consult with my parents before making any decisions.

“I only played grassroots football before I joined Notts County. I’d like to think that I’m a quick, strong striker and love taking shots at goal.

“In the next five years I want to be playing regular first team football at the highest level I possibly can.”
