‘Proud to wear this shirt’ – Moura makes heartfelt social media post after Leipzig loss

Lucas Moura has admitted to Spurs fans that he is hurting after the club’s 3-0 humiliation at the hands of RB Leipzig on Wednesday and implored the supporters to keep the faith.

Turning the tie around was always going to be a difficult task for the Lilywhites, who were without several key players, but the Germans proved on Tuesday that they were vastly superior in every department.

While Jose Mourinho’s men looked to press the home side high up the pitch and commit numbers in attack, Leipzig looked threatening every time they countered.

The tie was all but lost at half-time after Marcel Sabitzer scored a brace to put the home side 2-0 up at the interval.

Substitute Emile Fosberg put the icing on the cake by getting Leipzig’s third of the night, thus consigning Spurs to a 4-0 defeat on aggregate.

Moura, who was visibly distraught after the final whistle, took to Instagram to send the following message to the fans:

Moura once again worked his socks off for the side yesterday and so it is hard to be too critical of his performance. However, like Dele and Lamela, he looked pretty isolated in attack and hardly had any space in behind to run into. It was evident once again yesterday that we were struggling to get our attacking players into the game without a target man up front to hold the ball up.
