PSV release update on Steven Bergwijn

PSV Eindhoven have this morning released an update on their official website which includes a mention of Steven Bergwijn.

The update confirms that Bergwijn did not take part in training with the Dutch side this morning after receiving permission from the club to travel to England with a view to an upcoming transfer; but stopped short of naming Tottenham as the club in question.

Spurs are said to have agreed a £27million deal for the 22-year-old Dutch international who has won nine caps for his country to date (Daily Mail).

Bergwijn missed PSV’s 1-1 draw with FC Twente on Sunday after travelling to London in advance of completing his move to the Champions League finalists.

His arrival will offer Jose Mourinho options across the final third of the pitch with Bergwijn able to play on both wings as well as a central role.

He looks set to become Spurs’ second signing of the window after midfielder Gedson Fernandes’s arrival from Benfica earlier in the window.
