Pundit accuses Harry Kane of being ‘ridiculous’ if he leaves Postecoglou at the last minute

Harry Kane may be on the brink of leaving Tottenham Hotspur for Bayern Munich, but pundit Chris Sutton believes making the switch just days before the Premier League kicks off would leave Ange Postecoglou in a mess at Spurs.

Tottenham begin the 2023/24 Premier League campaign with an away trip to Brentford on Sunday afternoon, but those watching Ange Postecoglou‘s first competitive game in charge of the Lilywhites may also be witnessing the start of life without Harry Kane, too.

The early days of Postecoglou’s tenure at Spurs has been largely overshadowed by the ongoing saga surrounding Kane’s future, with Bayern Munich pursuing the England captain all summer.

The German outfit had a bid rejected earlier this week and it was widely expected that Kane, who wanted his situation resolved before the start of the Premier League campaign, would end up staying with Spurs (Evening Standard).

However, fresh developments have emerged today, with Tottenham having finally accepted Bayern’s advances and agreeing on a deal worth a reported €100m (£86.4m) (The Athletic).

Despite all of this, other sources have suggested that Kane is still more likely to stay at Tottenham, even after the accepted bid (Sky Sports News).

Harry Kane has left it late to leave Spurs

With just three days to go until Tottenham play their first game of the new season, it remains to be seen how Postecoglou would approach the Brentford game without Kane, but Chris Sutton claims it would be unfair to abandon the club at this stage.

He tweeted: “If Harry Kane leaves Tottenham now he will have stuffed Ange Postecoglou. It’s ridiculous him leaving three days before Tottenham’s first game.”

If Kane does decide to leave now, it won’t be his fault that it has been done so close to the start of the season.

Bayern Munich have come in short with their offers all summer and should have stumped up the full amount weeks ago, and Daniel Levy and Spurs should have insisted the German club cut to the chase and get the deal done if they were serious.
