Pundit backs Spurs star to regain lost confidence

Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas has backed Tottenham striker Harry Kane to find his goal-scoring boots once again for England during the international break.

The Three Lions will take on Montenegro at Wembley in a Euro 2020 qualifier this evening and a win in that game will all but guarantee England of the top spot in their group, thus helping them seal qualification.

Captain Kane is all set to lead the line for Gareth Southgate’s men once again as he strives to maintain his brilliant record for England in the qualification campaign.

Despite Tottenham’s struggles this season, Kane has still managed 10 goals in 15 matches for the club but some of his performances including his display against Sheffield United last Saturday left a lot to be desired (TransferMarkt).

Nicholas backed the England captain to regain his confidence by scoring a brace against Montenegro later this evening and he backed the Three Lions to turn out comfortable winners.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said, “Southgate will go with the strongest squad apart from Sterling just to get job done, but then they can get some rest for the last fixture and test some players out.

“It will be a great scenario and an easy win for England. Harry Kane could get his confidence up and grab a couple, which I think he will.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Kane has looked far better this season playing for England than he has for Spurs. While a big portion of this is due to the fact that Tottenham are in a poor run of form, his England performances also show how effective he can be when he has two pacey runners going beyond him. Perhaps that will convince Pochettino to try out a 4-3-3 with Kane, Son and Moura upfront.
