Pundit claims Conte does not trust two current Tottenham players

Peter Crouch has suggested that Yves Bissouma and Djed Spence are yet to win Antonio Conte’s trust since making the summer move to Tottenham.

There was plenty of excitement among Spurs fans when the North London club snapped up Bissuoma from Brighton in the summer, with the 25-year-old developing a reputation as one of the most talented midfielders in the Premier League over the last couple of years.

However, the Mali international has made just one start for far this season, with Conte continuing to persist with a central midfield pairing of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur.

The Spurs head coach even admitted last month that Bissouma was “struggling with the tactical aspect” of Tottenham’s system (Football London).

Spence is yet to make a single start this season, with the right-back’s only appearance for the Lilywhites being a brief cameo off the bench against Nottingham Forest back in August.

Crouch thinks Conte’s team selections show that he does not believe in the two summer signings.

The former Tottenham striker told BT Sport (04/10/22 from 22:00 onwards): “I do think there is a lack of trust in them, with Bissouma and Spence as well. I think there is a lack of belief in starting them.”

Spence was always going to take time to bed in as he was signed with an eye on the future. It is Bissouma’s struggles to get game time that has been extremely surprising. I do wonder if the midfielder is getting frustrated with a lack of opportunities and potentially regretting his decision to come to Spurs.
