Pundit claims England international would turn down chance to sign for Spurs

Gabriel Agbonlahor has ruled out the possibility of Jack Grealish joining Tottenham on the back of the North Londoners’ struggles this season.

Grealish has improved considerably over the last couple of years and is now one of the most sought-after players in the Premier League.

The Aston Villa star has been a long-term target for Tottenham and the club’s failure to get the midfielder signed for a reported £6m fee in 2018, now looks like one of Daniel Levy’s biggest mistakes.

It was also reported last summer that the North Londoners were willing to pay £50m for the 25-year-old but he instead remained at Villa Park and signed a new contract.

The midfielder is now estimated to be worth around £100m which almost completely rules out the chances of Spurs landing him with Agbonlahor claiming that Grealish would turn Tottenham down even if they made an approach.

The former England striker told talkSPORT (8 April, 8.40am): “I think 100 per cent. I could definitely see him (Grealish) playing there (at Liverpool).

“They’re missing Coutinho. You look at the Real Madrid game, they were missing Coutinho in that hole.

“Manchester City are spoiled for players similar to Jack so I don’t see that.

“Maybe a few years ago (he could have joined Tottenham) but not at the moment. Spurs next season will probably be fighting for mid-table.”

Spurs Web Opinion

We have almost certainly missed the boat on Grealish. Unfortunately, he looks destined to make a move to Manchester United, Chelsea or Manchester City in the future. I do not think the move will happen this summer but I can see the Villa star attracting a big transfer fee in 2022.
