Pundit claims European giant are keen on player that Spurs paid £23m to sign

Serge Aurier has emerged as a target for Real Madrid according to Okdiario’s chief football pundit Eduardo Inda.

The pundit was making an appearance on the popular Spanish television show El Chiringuito when he made the relevelation that the former Tottenham Hotspur player could be set for the Santiago Bernabeu.

Aurier, who made the move to North London from PSG in 2017 for £23million (talkSPORT) left Tottenham Hotspur on the final day of the summer transfer window by mutual agreement following the termination of his contract, which was due to expire at the end of the campaign.

The right-back needed his contract to be terminated before the window slammed shut in order for him to join his next club as a free agent, or he would have had to wait until the window re-opened in January.

Madrid have injury issues to deal with after Dani Carvajal picked up a problem against Valencia earlier this month and could now be looking to bring in the former PSG player on a free transfer, according to Inda.

The Liverpool Echo reported earlier this month that Everton are also said to be keeping tabs on the 28-year-old.

Aurier could be better suited to the slower pace of La Liga, having found himself to be a defensive liability on occasions for Spurs in the past with his rash decision making.

As a free agent, he will be an attractive proposition to many clubs during these tough financial times as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, and could net himself a healthy pay day with no fee required to be paid.
