Tim Sherwood has been discussing the qualities that Harry Kane brings to the Tottenham Hotspur team, and claimed there is at least one thing the 29-year-old has that Manchester City’s Erling Haaland does not.
Kane has been on fire this season and, after scoring the winner against Crystal Palace yesterday, has taken his tally for the season to 27 goals in all competitions (Transfermarkt).
It’s been a thoroughly disappointing campaign for Spurs, who are set to end up empty-handed once more when it comes to silverware, and may even miss out on European qualification for next season.
In a tightly-contested game at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium yesterday afternoon, it was Kane once again who produced the goods for Spurs and sealed all three points.
His impressive goalscoring record this season has been eclipsed by Haaland’s debut campaign with City. The Norwegian striker now has 51 goals in all competitions this year (Transfermarkt).
Speaking to MatchDay Extra on Premier League Productions (06/05/23 at 8:40 pm), Sherwood claimed Kane has the upper hand on Haaland in one area – heading the ball.
He said: “That’s something that Erling Haaland hasn’t got.
“I know he has got an awful lot Haaland. Harry’s got that over him. He is better in the air. You can’t keep this boy quiet.
“Where would Tottenham be without him? I would suggest mid-table.
“He has gone under the radar, Harry Kane, this season because Haaland has been so good. He pulls them out of the fire time and time again.
“He’s such a world-class performer. Even his goal today – he creates all the goals and he scores all the goals. He’s just a phenomenon.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Harry Kane is absolutely integral to Spurs, more so than ever right now.
If we do lose him, we will have a hell of a job in trying to replace him, but hopefully we don’t need to worry about that.
