Pundit claims Mourinho should be doing more to motivate big money signing

Gabriel Agbonlahor has said that it is up to Jose Mourinho to bring the best out of Tanguy Ndombele, suggesting that the midfielder potentially has a lot more to give than he has demonstrated so far in a Spurs shirt.

Ndombele’s fortunes have changed completely after his difficult first campaign at Tottenham following his big-money move from Lyon.

The midfielder’s relationship with Mourinho appeared quite strained last season but the 24-year-old has managed to turn things around, establishing himself as a regular in the starting eleven.

The French international has provided plenty of glimpses of his outstanding talent, as evidenced just last week in the training video the club released.

However, Ndombele has not dominated midfield battles as consistently as he would have hoped for, with Mourinho even recently admitting that the midfielder often does not do justice to the talent he possesses.

Agbonlahor has now challenged the Spurs boss to get the best out of Ndombele.

The former Aston Villa striker told Football Insider: “He should be motivating Ndombele to do better.

“He’s been very good this season but you can see with him there’s still a lot more he can give.

“Definitely, it’s the manager’s job and he has to do better.”
