Pundit claims one Spurs star will be disappointed with performance against West Ham

Glenn Murray has argued that Richarlison will be disappointed with the performance he delivered in Tottenham’s win over West Ham on Sunday.

Spurs returned to winning ways against the Hammers following two back-to-back losses against Leicester City and AC Milan, with the three points seeing the Lilywhites climb above Newcastle United to fourth place in the Premier League table.

Both of the home side goals came in the second half, with the two wing-backs combining to give Tottenham the lead in the 56th minute before Son Heung-min secured the result with a second after coming off the bench to replace Richarlison in the 68th minute.

It was not a surprise to see the Brazilian getting the nod to start ahead of Son, with the South Korean not being in the best of form over recent months but the 25-year-old failed to make the most of his opportunity.

Murray said that while Richarlison worked hard on Sunday, he would have been disappointed with his overall display.

The former Brighton strike told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport: “A disappointing afternoon is rounded off by Richarlison as he is dragged off before the 70th minute for the introduction of Son.

“When he gets home and looks in the mirror he will be disappointed, no lack of effort but it just didn’t happen for him this afternoon.”

It is not surprising that Son looked extremely dangerous when he comes on as an impact substitute against tired legs.

As one always expects with Richarlison, he worked Vladimir Coufal and Thilo Kehrer extremely hard for 70 minutes, thus potentially making it easier for Son to capitalise when he came on.
