Pundit claims only one Prem side could sign Gareth Bale

Tottenham Hotspur hosted a legend event at their new stadium yesterday in front of 45,000 fans, with the likes of Rafa Van der Vaart on show.

However, could one of Rafa’s old Spurs teammates, a legend in his own right, be coming back to Tottenham in the summer?

Gareth Bale has been linked with a White Hart Lane return virtually ever since he left for Real Madrid, but nothing has ever materialised from these rumours.

Despite issues regarding the transfer fee Real would demand, and the wages Gareth is on, not to mention his injury problems, most fans would welcome him back with open arms.

The Welshman is also coming under fire from some of his own fans in Madrid of late, only adding fuel to the rumour flames.

Tottenham still have first dibs on the player if another club come in for him, but that clause runs out this summer, so it could be now or never for the Bale dream.

Robbie Savage claims there is only one Prem club Bale would go to, and it isn’t Spurs.

He said (Mirror): “If Gareth Bale leaves Real Madrid this summer – there are suggestions he may not fit into returning coach Zinedine Zidane’s long-term plans – then he could be coming back to England.

“United would be his most realistic hope of a ticket back to the Premier League.

“Manchester City don’t need him, Tottenham can’t afford his wages with a new stadium to pay for, Chelsea could be under a transfer ban and he probably wouldn’t go to Arsenal as a former Spurs player.

“That doesn’t leave Bale with many other options in England.”
