Pundit claims only two players can offer same goal volume as Harry Kane

Former Manchester United midfielder Luke Chadwick has claimed the Red Devils have lacked a striker of Harry Kane’s quality for a long time but questioned whether the Spurs man would move to Old Trafford without Champions League.

Chadwick also added that only Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe can offer the same volume of goals as Kane, apparently dismissing the likes of Mo Salah, Robert Lewandowski, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

According to The Athletic, the Man United hierarchy are keep on snapping up Kane in the summer irrespective of who replaces Ralf Rangnick at the helm.

However, the report added that Kane’s future could be tied to Antonio Conte’s and could be also be influenced by how Tottenham finish the campaign.

It was explained that the 28-year-old is keen to get back to Champions League football. As things stand, Tottenham are competing with United Arsenal and West Ham for the final Champions League qualification spot heading into the business end of the season.

Chadwick is not in any doubt that a goal scorer like Kane would transform United if the club can push through a deal this summer.

He told CaughtOffside: “Harry Kane is a proven goalscorer, one of the best in the Premier League. He has guaranteed Tottenham goals for the last six or seven seasons.

“When you look at the strikers who can offer you that kind of volume of goals, you’re probably looking at three in world football – Harry Kane, Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe.

“If Kane is set to move on but if United don’t make the Champions League will it be to them? – Don’t get me wrong, I would absolutely love to see him up top playing for United. I think he would change everything.

“I don’t think United have had someone who can offer that kind of volume of goals for a long time. You give him chances and you know exactly what he’s going to do.”

Spurs Web Opinion

If Kane does leave Spurs, I believe he would want to join a club like Man City, who are guaranteed to challenge for major honours every season. I just do not see why he would be tempted by a move to United, who could well finish below us this season.
