Pundit claims player made a mistake by signing for Tottenham

Romanian great Ionel Ganea believes that Radu Dragusin would have been much better off moving to Bayern Munich than Tottenham back in January.

It was well documented that Spurs saw off competition from Bayern to land Dragusin from Genoa in January.

Tottenham beat Bayern Munich to land Dragusin in winter transfer window

The centre-back’s agent Florian Maneo even told Fanatik soon after the move became official that Thomas Tuchel spoke to the 22-year-old for 30 minutes in an effort to convince him to come to Bavaria but explained that his client had his heart set on a move to Tottenham.

Dragusin has not had the smoothest of starts to his spell at the North London club, having struggled for starts since his switch from Italy.

Over recent weeks, there have even been claims in the Italian press that the centre-back would be open to returning to Serie A on loan this summer amidst Napoli’s interest if he does not receive a guarantee of regular game at Spurs next season (Gazzetta dello Sport via Sport Witness).

Dragusin is told he made a mistake by joining Spurs

Ganea believes that with hindsight, Dragusin made a mistake by moving to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium over the Allianz Arena.

The pundit told Romanian outlet Sport about the defender: “My opinion is that he chose the wrong team. Bayern Munich was much more suitable for him.”

Following his move in January, Dragusin made nine appearances for Tottenham in the Premier League (transfermarkt).

Spurs Web Opinion

Given that Tuchel has been sacked by Bayern, I do not think there is any guarantee that moving to the German giants would have worked any better for Dragusin.

The 22-year-old will likely have an important role to play at Tottenham next season and will get an opportunity to prove his worth.

When Destiny Udogie was injured and Micky van de Ven moved to left back, Dragusin showed in the final games of the campaign that he was more than capable of being a quality addition to the side.
