Pundit claims Rodgers could make Spurs U-turn after rumoured development

Danny Mills has insisted that he can see Brendan Rodgers performing a U-turn and taking up the Tottenham job after reports emerged that the North Londoners are prepared to triple the Leicester boss’ salary.

Rodgers is rumoured to be Spurs’ number one target to replace Jose Mourinho but some sources have suggested that the costs of signing the 48-year-old, including his salary and compensation owed to Leicester, has turned out to be too much for Spurs.

It was reported on Friday that Tottenham have not given up hopes of luring Rogers, with Daniel Levy prepared to spend big to ensure he appoints the Norther Irish coach.

The former Liverpool boss seemingly ruled himself out of contention for the Spurs job last week, admitting that he is keen on continuing his project at Leicester.

However, Mills believes that Rodgers could well change his mind if Tottenham decide to throw the kitchen sink to get their hands on the Foxes boss.

Reacting to the speculation that Levy is prepared to triple Rodgers’ current salary, the pundit told Football Insider: “It’s always very, very difficult to turn it down when someone’s going to offer you ludicrous amounts of money.

“Everybody has a price, no matter what. That will be very tempting for him.

“If they offer him three times his money, I’d turn around and say ‘I want four times what I’m earning.’

“Where else are they going to go? Who else are Tottenham going to attract? Maurizio Sarri? I don’t see that working out long-term, I don’t see that being a good fit.

“Obviously Julian Nagelsmann’s gone to Bayern. Erik ten Hag has said ‘No thanks, I want to stay at Ajax.’ Where do you start to look now?”
