Pundit claims Spurs man looked ‘unbelievably sharp’ against Southampton

Don Hutchison has raved about Harry Kane’s display against Southampton and insisted the striker is now back to his best.

Kane had an extremely poor start to the season after his failed move to Manchester City in the summer and was struggling for goals in the Premier League.

Some pundits even suggested at the time that Spurs would be regretting not cashing in on the England captain over the summer.

However, the 28-year-old is now proving his critics wrong, having netted in his last three consecutive Premier League games against Liverpool, Crystal Palace and Southampton.

According to reports, the striker is loving life under Antonio Conte at Spurs and feels much fitter than he thought possible in just two months of working with the Italian.

Hutchison admitted that he was surprised by Kane’s sharpness during Tottenham’s 1-1 draw at St Mary’s, stating that the striker looked like his former self again.

The pundit told BBC’s Football Daily podcast (29/12/21): “I did their game. I was doing commentary and Kane was back to his best.

“He was unbelievably sharp. He had a goal disallowed. It was a typical Harry Kane touch and finish.”

Strikers are judged by their goals and it is not surprising that Kane seems to have found his confidence back now that he has found the back of the net on a couple of occasions.

It is worth pointing out that the 28-year-old had never had a barren patch such as the one he had in the first few months of this season.

So, his confidence in front of the goal was understandably affected. However, ever since Conte arrived, his all-round play has been excellent and his body language has looked positive.
