Pundit claims Spurs need to ‘get rid of’ one player after Arsenal defeat

Jamie O’Hara has called on Tottenham Hotspur to show Ben Davies the door, criticising the Welshman for his defending for Arsenal’s second goal.

While Tottenham did manage to put some respectability on the scoreline in the second half by pulling two goals back, a lot of Spurs fans were left infuriated by the softness of the goals that the Lilywhites conceded in the first half.

While a lot of the focus has been on the two goals that Spurs conceded off set-pieces, O’Hara pointed out that Davies did not cover himself in glory for Arsenal’s second goal.

The goal came about just seconds after Tottenham had a penalty shout turned down, with Dejan Kulusevski appearing to be tripped in the box. The away side quickly released Bukayo Saka, who skipped inside Davies with ease before slotting the ball past Guglielmo Vicario.

Jamie O’Hara wants Ben Davies to be sold

O’Hara was not pleased with what he saw from the 30-year-old Tottenham defender, suggesting that he should have shown Saka on the outside.

The pundit told talkSPORT: “We go 2-0 down, Ben Davies, shouldn’t be playing left-back but has to play left-back, he’s not good enough. We need to get rid.

“Show Saka on his right, show him away from the goal. You let him come in and just put one in the bottom corner. You know what he’s going to do. You know he’s going to do that.”

Davies is a solid defender and does not often get beat easily in one-on-one situations. However, Saka is a world-class winger and is a master at those kinds of situations and the Welshman is not the last player that the Arsenal man will leave for dead.
