Pundit claims Spurs player will target ‘car crash’ Arsenal midfielder in NLD

Kevin Campbell has called Granit Xhaka a ‘car crash waiting to happen’ and claims Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg could look to target him when Tottenham and Arsenal match up again this season.

Both clubs were due to face each other last month for their second Premier League meeting of the campaign, but the game was postponed due to COVID issues in the Gunners’ squad (Daily Mail).

A new date for a rescheduled fixture has yet to be pencilled in, with the encounter potentially having large bearings on the race for the top four come the end of the season.

When the derby is eventually played, former Arsenal man Campbell believes Spurs could target loose cannon Xhaka to draw a reaction and tip the game’s balance in their favour.

As such, the ex-striker claims Tottenham enforcer Hojbjerg could be the one to play on the Swiss midfielder’s tendencies to lose his head.

Campbell said on Highbury Squad: “Can you actually rely on Xhaka? As he said, he’s not going to change. He’s going to play his way. He doesn’t want to hear it.

“Then he goes and does silly things. He is a car crash waiting to happen, at times. Hojbjerg is going to try all sorts [against Xhaka when north London derby is rescheduled].”

Xhaka has shown plenty of times before that he can be an accident waiting to happen and a bit of a liability. Even then it might not be a guarantee that he starts the match considering he was dropped for Arsenal’s game against Wolves last week. But it could be a good tactic to use down the line.
