Pundit claims Spurs should cash in on star and use cash for two players

Danny Mills has claimed that the time has come for Tottenham Hotspur to move Dele Alli on this summer.

Alli struggled to get game time under Jose Mourinho and looked close to an exit from Spurs during the January transfer window.

The midfielder started every one of Tottenham’s last five league games under Ryan Mason but his performances left a lot to be desired.

Some reports have claimed that Alli only started the last five matches since the club wanted to put him in the shop window ahead of the summer.

It remains to be seen whether the former MK Dons man will still be at the club next season and his future might well depend on the new manager, who Tottenham do not look close to appointing at the moment after the breakdown in talks with Antonio Conte.

Mills believes that it would be in Spurs’ best interest to cash in on Alli and that the midfielder also needs a fresh challenge.

When asked if it is time for Tottenham to sell the 25-year-old, the former Leeds defender told Football Insider: “Yes.

“If it’s not working, you can’t have mavericks in a team game. If somebody’s upsetting the team ethic you have to move them on.

“Maybe he needs a fresh challenge, we’ve said it many times. You can sell him on and bring good money in.

“You could possibly bring in a couple of players in off the back of selling Dele Alli.”
