Pundit claims that England international is regressing at Spurs and needs a transfer

ESPN FC pundit and ex-Venezuela international, Alejandro Moreno, has now claimed that Eric Dier’s career at Tottenham has stalled.

Moreno went as far as to say that Dier is no regressing in North London and believes he needs a transfer away to kickstart his career again.

Dier joined Spurs in 2014, transferring from Sporting Lisbon in Portugal after coming through the academy there.

He has gone on to play 235 games for the Lilywhites across six seasons, netting 11 goals in that time. He also has 40 caps for England, scoring three goals and even wearing the captain’s armband in the past (Wikipedia).

However, Dier has struggled for game time and consistent performances these past two seasons in North London.

While he played 51 games in 2015/16, followed by 48 and 47 for the next two seasons, he has only featured 53 times over the past two campaigns combined (Wikipedia).

Moreno claimed that Eric Dier’s progression has stalled at Spurs and called for the former Sporting man to leave North London.

Speaking about the England international, the pundit said (ESPN FC): “He’s (Dier) one of the guys that I would say ‘what might have been’ with Spurs.

“You think that this guy was going to take his career to a different level and he has stalled.

“But he has stalled to the point to where he’s not only stalling but kind of regressing and going in the opposite direction. I think he could do, personally, with a change of scenery.”
