Darren Ambrose thinks three Tottenham players would get into Arsenal’s current starting XI, naming James Maddison, Cristian Romero, and Destiny Udogie.

The pundit even went as far as to say that Maddison would get in the Gunners team ahead of captain Martin Odegaard, based on current form at the start of the new Premier League season.

However, there was no mention of the likes of Heung-min Son, Pedro Porro, Yves Bissouma, or Pape Matar Sarr, all of whom have started the new campaign brightly for the Lilywhites.

Ambrose believes that Romero would slot into the Arsenal back line, assumedly alongside Saliba, while Udogie would get the nod over Zinchenko for the moment.

Although it may not seem like much of a compliment for three Spurs players to get into the starting XI, when you cast your mind back to where Tottenham were 6 months ago, it becomes more optimistic.

At the end of last season, it was arguably only Harry Kane who would make it into a North London combined XI, with everyone else underperforming.

James Maddison is in better form than Odegaard

Ambrose told TalkSPORT: “I think Maddison gets in. Yes (over Odegaard as the ten). Maddison is arguably the best player in the Premier League, at the moment. We are talking current form right now. On current form, Maddison gets in over Odegaard.

“Last season, Odegaard, of course. But this season, the way Maddison is going, he is one of three players, since the start of last season, that has scored ten and assisted ten.

“Odegaard needs one of the others Saka or Salah. On current form, Maddison is flying. And Odegaard hasn’t really started. He is doing okay. But hasn’t really started yet.

“I would put Romero in. Udogie gets in on current form. But he (Zinchenko) hasn’t been playing much. He has been injured. It’s been a good start. I forgot he was at Spurs when he went on loan.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

I would say Yves Bissouma would also walk into a combined XI, while you could make a case for a couple of others on this season alone. Whatever the case, Spurs seem to be on an upward trajectory and that is exciting to see!
