Pundit claims Tottenham man will be ‘furious’ if Levy stands in his way

Paddy Kenny has claimed that Harry Kane will be furious if Daniel Levy blocks him from leaving Tottenham this summer after all the years of fantastic service the striker has given the club.

Although Kane stopped short of saying he wants to leave Tottenham in his candid interview with Gary Neville last month, the striker did admit that he will have a conversation with Levy after Spurs missed out on the Champions League for a second consecutive season.

Manchester City are expected to make a big effort for the 27-year-old this window but the ball remains in Tottenham’s court, with the striker still having three years left to run on his contract.

The likes of Fabrizio Romano have said that Tottenham’s position continues to be that Kane is not for sale.

However, Kenny believes that it would not be fair of Levy to stand in the England captain’s way this summer, pointing out that Kane wants to move to win silverware rather than for a bigger paycheque.

The former Leeds United goalkeeper told Football Insider: “He’s (Kane) not a trouble-causer. If he wants to leave, he wants to leave.

“Every season that goes by his value is gonna go down because it’s another year down on his contract.

“You’d be furious, 100 per cent. I know he’s under contract but what he’s done for Tottenham has been remarkable. You can’t fault him.

“Some players are all about money but he’s all about wanting to leave to win trophies. You can’t fault someone for wanting to do that.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Irrespective of what Kane has done for the club, Levy will not sell the striker unless his valuation is met. I was previously confident that we would hold on to Kane for one more season and sell him next summer.

However, now that Paratici’s has arrived, I can see the Italian deciding that it would be in the club’s best interest to cash in on the striker now when his value is high and reinvest the money into the squad.
