Darren Bent believes Tottenham striker Harry Kane is ‘in the same bracket’ as Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo, but claimed he would still prefer to have the Portuguese star in his side.
The former Premier League striker claimed that both players are on a level par when it comes to their ability to finish.
Ronaldo made a sensational return to United over the summer and has hit the ground running under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The 36-year-old has scored in every game he has played in so far, bringing his tally to three goals in as many appearances.
Unfortunately, it has not been the same story for Kane, with his performances a shadow of last season where he emerged with the Premier League’s Golden Boot and Playmaker awards.
The England captain is still searching for his first Premier League goal of the campaign under new Spurs manager Nuno Espirito Santo but managed to break his domestic duck in the Carabao Cup against Wolves.
Bent was quizzed on the pair and believes they are equal regarding their striking abilities, but edged slightly towards Ronaldo on overall traits.
He told United View: “Listen, why does he keep saying this. I explained this last time I was on the show.
“If it was a final, not even a final, I would rather have Ronaldo over Kane. But when we are talking about finishing, they are in the same bracket.”

Over recent seasons, Kane has consistently put up the numbers to place him among the elite forwards in the world, alongside the likes of Ronaldo.
The Man Utd forward has raced ahead of Kane on the goal front but, hopefully, this slow start is just a minor blip and he can begin to catch up with the rest of the pack.
