Chris Sutton has claimed that Richarlison is already looking like one of the signings of the summer transfer window after the Brazilian’s performance in Tottenham’s 2-1 win over Fulham on Saturday.
Richarlison had been banging on the door with his performances off the bench in Tottenham’s first five Premier League games of the campaign and he deservedly got his first start against the Cottagers.
The 25-year-old started on the right and was one of Spurs’ most potent threats as he linked up with impressively with Harry Kane.
Richarlison played as the central striker once Kane was replaced by Dejan Kulusevski in the 78th minute and the former Everton man thought he got his first goal for Tottenham in stoppage time, only for VAR to rule that he had strayed offside in the build-up.
Sutton claimed that the Brazil international was Spurs’ best player on Saturday and suggested that Antonio Conte will be over the moon that the North Londoners managed to snap him up.
The former Celtic striker wrote in his column for The Daily Mail: “Richarlison was the best thing about Tottenham’s 2-1 win over Fulham. He didn’t get a goal on his first Premier League start but he did everything else.
“The way he broke in behind Fulham’s back line, his physicality, how he was linking up with Harry Kane as if they were old team-mates, his work-rate with and without the ball.
“Richarlison already looks like one of the best buys of the summer, and Antonio Conte must be giddy that he got him.”
Spurs Web Opinion
I always thought Richarlison was a decent player during his Watford and Everton days but I have been pleasantly surprised with how good he has been so far this season.
The energy that he brings makes him a nuisance for opposition defences and having a player of his quality on the bench (if he does not start) is a huge asset for Conte.
