Pundit explains how much he thinks Harry Kane is worth amid Man Utd links

Gabby Agbonlahor believes that Tottenham Hotspur might not have much choice but to sell Harry Kane to a Premier League rival if the striker does not sign a new contract before the end of the season.

There have been plenty of reports over recent weeks suggesting that Manchester United are expected to make a move for Kane next summer, with the latest update on the matter coming from The Telegraph earlier this week.

The publication claimed that Daniel Levy’s preference would be to sell the England captain to a foreign club and that the Spurs chairman is likely to demand £100m from United if they come calling for the striker.

It was further explained that Tottenham still hope to convince Kane to put pen to paper on a new contract and that the Lilywhites’ quest could be aided if they finish in the top four this season.

Agbonlahor has now argued that the 29-year-old might force Spurs to sell him to a domestic rival so he can chase down Alan Shearer’s record, and suggested that the North London club might have to accept around £70m for their talisman.

The former Aston Villa striker told Football Insider: “Harry Kane has got 18 months left. In the summer, he’ll either sign a new contract or leave. But Spurs might be in a position where Kane says he is only going to an English club – because he’ll want to break Shearer’s record.

“Tottenham might not have a choice in whether they sell him to a Man United. It’s a really difficult position for Spurs. As much as they say they won’t let him go to a rival, if he runs into the final year of his contract – they could lose a £70m striker for nothing. Spurs don’t like to lose money.”

Spurs Web Opinion

If Spurs fail to make the top four this season, Kane would be well within his rights to demand a move to Man Utd in the summer and I do not think Tottenham will stand in his way on this occasions.

However, United currently sit just four points above us in the table and there is still a long way to go this season.
